Congratulations to the Jefferson West Varsity Boys Golf for taking 3rd at our Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers were lead by Gage Moser who shot an 80 and took 6th place. Also medaling for the Tigers were Caleb Morse and Laiken Emanuel. #HeedtheRoar

Thank you to the Jeff West MS and HS students that came out on a Saturday in the cold weather to support something they believe in. Thank you to the parents and other volunteers that played large roles filling in the gaps that were very much needed. Thank you Special Olympics Kansas for allowing us to host another great event. Lastly thank you to the Jefferson West High School AYCC students who played leadership roles all day long and modeled for many of our younger JW kids what it looks like to be a leader in the school and community. #HeedtheRoar

On Friday, eSports Coach, Alan Dick, received confirmation we had one student qualify for postseason play in the HSEL National Majors playing Minecraft Survival. Freshman Leroy Staniec will begin his tournament matches this week. He has had a great season. If you see him next week, give him some recognition and support! On Thursday, 4/18, Jefferson West Art students attended and competed at HCC Art Day. We came home with 6 awards! Artistic Excellence - Sophia Cozadd – Digital Photograph Tristian Dominguez – 35mm Print Photograph Destin Smidt – Digital Photography Honorable Mention - Armando Mendez – Ceramic Vessel Wheel Throwing competition – Armando! He battled all day for the title, taking the leaderboard several times, and trying again each time he was beaten. It came down to the second…And he won by ¼”. TIGER ROAR!!! #HeedtheRoar

Forensics competitors qualified for the KSHSAA State Speech and Drama Festival as a result of Regionals, held Saturday at ACCHS. Earning I ratings and advancing to state were: Madison Sage (humorous solo acting), team Aubrey Phillips and Guy Phillips (improvised duet acting), Aubrey Phillips (poetry), Amber Nardo (prose), and Sydnee Jackson (prose). Earning II ratings were the improvised duet acting team of Trent Turner and Amber Nardo, the improvised duet acting team of Sydnee Jackson and Madison Sage, and Trent Turner with humorous solo acting. State will be held May 4th.

On Thursday, Jefferson West High School had 5 students who attended the signing ceremony at Washburn Tech. Congratulations and TIGER ROAR goes to... Tiauna Mack - Culinary Jerzi Boileau - LPN Pre-requisites Ethan Keating - HVAC Brent Zumbrum - Diesel Technology Aiden Old - Diesel Technology There were 8 students who were not able to attend the signing day. On Tuesday, 4/23, there will be a signing ceremony hosted by Jefferson West High School. Once again, congratulations!!

It's time to think about your sports physical for next school year. Jefferson West has partnered with Cotton O'Neil Orthopedics & Sports Medicine to do just that and beat the rush! This event is open to all Middle and High School student athletes and will be valid for the 2024-2025 sports season. Each physical will cost $20 paid via cash, check, or card. The student athletes do not have to be an active patient of Stormont Vail or Cotton O'Neil. This is a walk-in clinic; no appointment needed. PLEASE NOTE - NO immunizations will be given.

The FFA Greenhouse will be opening soon!! The first day of sales to the public will be Saturday, April 20, from 1-4pm. We will be open during school hours (8-11am and 12:30-3:30pm) after that point. If there are plants still here, we will have another Saturday sale on April 27 from 9am-12Noon. We will have both annual flowers and vegetable plants for sale. Please come and support our ag program and students that have had such a large impact in producing these plants for you.
